Dublin native Nadia is back hosting her third trip with Earth’s Edge, having previously summited Kilimanjaro and trekked to Everest Base Camp with groups of like-minded people united by their love for travel, adventure and the outdoors.
This time Nadia is looking forward to exploring Arctic Finland and finally making that special trip to Lapland – just without Santa and only for adults!
Community is at the core of what Nadia does, so she will be adding an extra training day in Ireland for the group to come together and get to know each other ahead of the big trip in 2027.

Arctic Adventure
Discover the magic of Arctic Finland on this unforgettable 8-day winter adventure through Lapland’s snow-covered wilderness.
Based in a cozy log cabin near Syöte National Park, this expedition offers the perfect balance of adventure and comfort. Surrounded by silent forests and far from city lights, it’s an ideal base for experiencing the beauty of Arctic winter.
Each day brings a new way to explore the pristine landscapes. From snowshoeing through ancient snow-laden forests, backcountry skiing across rolling fells, and riding husky sleds over frozen rivers.
Evenings are for hearty meals, the warmth of a traditional Finnish sauna, and, if conditions are right, the chance to witness the Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky.
For the brave, there’s also the option of an invigorating ice dip in a nearby frozen lake, a classic Finnish winter experience.
Together these experiences create a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation and authentic Arctic magic.

Added Extras
As part of the Arctic Finland Winter Adventure, Nadia will be offering some pre-departure events in Ireland to help the group prepare and get to know each other before the trip.
- Training Events
Nadia will be hosting two pre-departure training events in Wicklow – a training day and a training weekend – giving the group a chance to meet and prepare together before travelling to Finland.
Led by experienced guides, the training day will focus on an enjoyable hike and introductions to the group, while the training weekend will include an expedition briefing, two training hikes, and valuable advice covering everything from equipment to weather conditions.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Finnish Lapland

Arrive at Rovaniemi Airport (RVN), and transfer to our accommodation for the week. Evening welcome dinner, trip briefing, and optional Finnish sauna.
Day 2
Snowshoeing in Syöte National Park
↓
Snowshoe through the forests and fells, enjoy lunch by an open-fire, then snowshoe back to the cabin for stretching, sauna, and dinner.
Day 3
Cross-Country Skiing
↓
Short skiing course followed by cross-country skiing along well-defined tracks, with lunch en route.
Day 4
Husky Sledding
↓
Drive your own husky team in pairs on a thrilling Arctic adventure through snowy forests and over frozen rivers. Evening sauna and dinner back at the cabin.
Day 5
Snowshoeing in Riisitunturi National Park
↓
Snowshoe through the snow-covered Riisitunturi fells, picnic in nature, before returning to the cabin for sauna, dinner, and the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights!
Day 6
Back-Country Skiing in Syöte
↓
Explore forests and frozen lakes on skin-based skis in a remote part of Syöte National Park. Enjoy a delicious wilderness lunch, then return to the cabin for dinner and relaxing.
Day 7
Snowmobiling in Syöte
↓
Ride through the snowy landscapes of Syöte National Park one last time on an exhilarating snowmobiling adventure. Delicious farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Syöte.

Flights
We'll outline a recommended flight itinerary to Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) so you can avail of the free group transfer. This will be shared with you once your booking is confirmed.
You are, of course, welcome to choose alternative flights and make your own way to your accommodation in time for the briefing on Day 1.
Payment Information
- Secure your place with a €199 deposit
- A part payment of €1,000 is due six months before departure
- The remaining balance is payable by instalments or in full
- Final balance is due 90 days before departure
Lapland Winter FAQ's
I've never done these activities before, can I still join?
- Absolutely! The activities on this trip are designed to be accessible for beginners with a reasonable level of fitness. Experienced local guides will provide instruction for activities such as snowshoeing, backcountry skiing and husky sledding, so no previous experience is required.
Will Nadia be on the trip?
- Yes. Nadia El Ferdaoussi will be joining the group for the full adventure in Lapland, sharing the experience and taking part in the activities alongside everyone.
What are the chances of seeing the Northern Lights?
- Lapland is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. While sightings can never be guaranteed, the dark Arctic skies and minimal light pollution give excellent chances if conditions are right.
How cold does it get in Lapland?
- Winter daytime temperatures in Lapland typically range from -5°C to -20°C, although colder mornings are possible. While it can sound cold, the dry Arctic air and proper winter clothing make it surprisingly manageable and comfortable for outdoor activities.
What clothing and gear will I need?
- We’ll provide a detailed packing list, and participants also have the option to rent a full winter clothing set, including insulated boots, for only €90 for the week.
