A New Chapter at Earth’s Edge: Looking Ahead to 2026 & Beyond

When I set Earth’s Edge up in 2007, it was always about sharing unforgettable experiences with others. By then I’d already visited over 50 countries, and the adventures have only grown bigger and bolder since then. All of that has been made possible by the incredible community of people like you who make up the Earth’s Edge family.

I’ve made some of my closest friends on these trips, and I know many of you have too. There’s something truly special about the shared moments in wild and wonderful places: the challenge, the purpose, the joy, the sense of achievement, and the conversations you can only have in the mountains. This community means the world to me and my entire team, both at home in Ireland and across the globe.

From day one, our mission has been simple: to run the safest, most responsible, and most supportive trips in the world. That commitment hasn’t changed, and we’re as dedicated as ever to delivering extraordinary experiences without ever compromising on the things that truly matter.

What’s Changed

We’ve always aimed to be a one-stop shop, including the training weekends, the preparation, and all the logistics so that you could simply focus on the journey ahead. For many years, we offered flights as part of our trips because we wanted to make things as seamless as possible for you.

But since Covid, the world has changed, and so has the aviation industry.

Group flight rates have risen sharply, and the flexibility around them has reduced in ways that make planning group travel far more restrictive than it used to be.

We worked hard to absorb these changes in order to keep offering flights for as long as we could, but eventually it reached a point where keeping flights included meant we were no longer able to provide competitive pricing for our trips.

So, after a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision to move all Earth’s Edge expeditions to a land-only basis from 2026 onwards.

This isn’t just about removing flights. We’ve taken the opportunity to revisit how each expedition is built so we can deliver great value while keeping all the quality and safety elements that Earth’s Edge is known for.

To reflect this change, I’m pleased to share our new, lower rates across the majority of our expeditions.

Note: Some of our newest trips, such as Toubkal, Patagonia, and Baruntse, already launched at the best possible land-only price, so those remain unchanged.

What This Means For You

First and foremost, everything you know and love about Earth’s Edge stays exactly the same:

  • We’re still including experienced doctors on high-altitude expeditions, so we can provide world-leading safety and care where it matters most. This has always been a bedrock of our service, and is as important to us today as ever.
  • We’re still running training weekends before every expedition, giving you meaningful preparation, support, and community, allowing you to perform at your best on the mountain.
  • We’re still here to provide genuine, personal, expert support every step of the way. From your first enquiry to standing on the summit and achieving your goal. This now includes advising you on the best routes, timings and recommended flights so the group can travel together where practical. Booking your own flights simply gives you a little more choice and control, whether that’s choosing a preferred airline, using loyalty points, or extending your trip if you wish.
  • We’re still paying all our local staff a fair, living wage, ensuring they have the income they need to support their families. This is a core value we will never compromise on.
  • We’re still committed to kindness, fairness, and protecting the places we visit in the most sustainable and responsible way possible.

Looking Ahead

We’re also delighted to share that our much-loved Earth’s Edge jackets are back for everyone travelling with us. If you’ve already booked for 2026 or 2027, we’ll reach out in the new year to get your size, and send your jacket directly to you.

In addition, to help spread the festive cheer this Christmas, if you book any expedition before December 31st we’ll send you a €200 Great Outdoors voucher as a thank you. Just use the code xmas2025 when booking.

And with four new destinations added this year alone (and more on the way!) we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you for your trust, your continued support, and for being part of the Earth’s Edge journey. We can’t wait to share many more adventures with you in the years to come.

Have a wonderful Christmas,

James
